Market Moving Topics - Week 17

1) Earnings reports

The earnings season continues with a bunch of big names reporting this week. Big Tech will get a lot of attention (Microsoft & Alphabet on Tuesday, Meta Platforms on Wednesday, Amazon & Intel on Thursday), together with well-known names from across all sectors. Market Participants will most likely try to get some hints about the state of the economy as well as the different sectors out of it, so expect some volatility in the stock markets resulting out of those earnings reports.  Complete Companies List by Earning Whispers: click here

2) Geopolitical situation

While there where several headlines about the increasing US – China tensions covering military and diplomatic developments, Brazil`s President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva has certainly made the most suprising one, by taking a very Russia-friendly stance last week, as well as suggesting that it might be time to replace the dollar as the leading trade currency a few days before.  Read the whole story from REUTERS: click here

3) Economic Calendar

Economic indicators slipped out of focus a bit last week, with earnings reports and especially forecasts dominating the headlines. Economic releases are plenty this week, among them US consumer confidence, New home sales (April 25), durable goods orders (April 26), and employment cost index and PCE Price Index (April 28). Most Important for the DAX trading are Business Climate Index (April 24) and German Unemployment, GDP and CPI numbers (April 28).
